CONCUSSION AWARENESS TRAINING
Effective April 26th, 2013 individuals are not allowed to serve as coach or referee for a youth sports organization, either volunteer or paid, without successfully completing, every three years, an online training program in recognizing the signs and symptoms of concussions and head injuries provided by the Ohio Department of Health or without holding a Pupil Activity Permit from the Ohio Department of Education. This law was recently enacted by several states, including Ohio. There are severe fines for violations.
We have below the links for concussion awareness training through the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) and Center For Disease Control (CDC). Either of these are proof of the online training, as both allow you to print a certificate of completion at the end of the session. Both of these are FREE to an individual to complete.
All coaches, referee's, and volunteer's associated with any District within the Kittyhawk S.A.Y. Area needs to take this online training.
ALL COACHES AND REFEREE'S ARE TO ALWAYS CARRY A COPY OF THE CONCUSSION AWARENESS TRAINING CERTIFICATE AT ALL TIMES.
